Etherscan’s widely used explorer interface is now available on the Sei blockchain through a new tool called Seiscan. The adaptation brings the same search-and-lookup features users know — address lookups, transaction histories, token transfers and smart contract views — to Sei’s EVM-compatible environment.
Beyond the UI, Seiscan gives builders access to Etherscan’s backend services, including APIs and analytics that the platform says handle more than 1 billion API calls per day across Ethereum and other chains. That means developers building on Sei can plug into established data feeds without rebuilding explorer or API infrastructure from scratch.
Sei’s on-chain activity has expanded rapidly: according to DeFiLlama, total value locked rose from just over $5 million at the start of 2024 to about $560 million today, while monthly trading volume recently hit roughly $1.3 billion in August after a July peak near $1.56 billion. The arrival of Seiscan follows other institutional moves into the ecosystem, such as CoinShares’ zero-fee SEI ETP with staking yield in Europe.
Why this matters: a familiar explorer lowers the onboarding barrier for users and gives projects reliable tools for monitoring and analytics. For traders and token holders, Seiscan can make it easier to trace token flows and check contract interactions; for developers, ready-made APIs shorten time-to-market.
Risk note: explorers improve visibility but are not a substitute for security audits or on-chain due diligence — data can lag or be misinterpreted. On markets today, SEI trades lower by about 4.5% in the past 24 hours, compared with a 2.8% drop in the broader crypto market.
