Ondo Finance has launched tokenized versions of 100+ U.S. stocks and ETFs on Ethereum, opening a new route for global investors to access U.S. securities on-chain.
The offering, marketed as Ondo Global Finance, is available only to non-U.S. investors. Ondo says each token is fully backed by the underlying U.S. stocks and ETFs held at one or more U.S.-registered broker-dealers, with cash in transit to secure settlements.
Ondo’s move builds on its earlier acquisition of Oasis Pro, a broker-dealer and transfer-agent platform. Those licenses help Ondo source and custody the real-world assets that underpin the tokens, though they do not make the product available to U.S. retail investors.
Tokenization aims to deliver practical benefits: fractional ownership, the ability to trade outside normal market hours, and 24/7 trading. Ondo said it plans to expand beyond Ethereum to BNB Chain, Solana and its own Ondo Chain, and the launch is already supported by major wallets including Trust Wallet, OKX Wallet, Ledger and Bitget Wallet.
Industry momentum for tokenized equities has picked up recently — Coinbase and Robinhood have both explored similar offerings, with Robinhood notably listing private companies earlier this year.
What to watch: access is geofenced away from the U.S., and token holders remain exposed to custody, regulatory and counterparty risks tied to the broker-dealers and settlement mechanics. Investors should evaluate liquidity and legal jurisdiction before trading.
